Nicholson is a diversified and growing company with focus on a broad spectrum of project types within the Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Aviation & Manufacturing sectors.
Typically, Nicholson self-performs a large percentage of the work, so quality engineering is crucial to our success.
The ability to accurately design, manage, and execute heavy civil construction projects has brought us a great deal of success.
We are looking for the right candidate to continue that success.
The qualified candidate shall be well versed in excavation, support of excavation, utility work, heavy concrete foundations, demolition work, site concrete, and paving.
This is an excellent learning opportunity for the right candidate to expand their skillset and professional relationships.
Primary responsibilities include:
Serve as a point of contact for vendors and subcontractors.
Successfully solicit vendor and subcontractors for pricing pre-bid in a timely manner.
Create schedules for jobs and coordinate with subcontractors.
Assist with take-off for job proposals/bids.
Attend job meetings including pre-construction, project, staff meetings.
Accurately assess design requirements, materials list, and field productivity.
Organize project documents internally and in the cloud for coordination with the field.
Ability to comprehend the subtleties of project specifications and proposal forms.
Demonstrate appropriate people skills to facilitate smooth operation of the estimate and project.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must have a complete understanding of Heavy Civil Construction P.
E.
preferred, or the ability to get licensed within a reasonable period time.
A minimum of 5 years' current experience with a commercial contractor performing civil, DOT, County and/or heavy/highway projects is preferred.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Familiarity with AutoDesk Build, PlanGrid, or similar Cloud Construction Management software preferred.
Ability to perform an accurate take-off using a digital platform such as OST a plus.
SAGE 300 CRE experience a plus.
Understanding of construction terminology, material types and ability to communicate effectively within the construction environment.
In depth knowledge of construction methods and means and equipment utilization.
Education:
Preferably a BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar.
